FOX Business On Assignment

Andy Kohlhofer

This bill does nothing to end federal government intrusion into the mortgage markets. If the Democrats win this fall, they will push for a nationalizing of mortgages so they can continue to push lender to take risks. The charters for Fannie Mae and Freddie MAC should be revoked, Their assets should be prepared for sale to private entities, The Community Reinvestment ACT nees to be abrogated, and all laws pertaining to government backed morgages need to be repealed. On top of that, next year's FY budget needs to be cut by about $250 billion to show the world that we are ready to become serious about our borrowing. This is not juast a crisis of confidence in the fiancial markets, this is also a crisis in confidence that the legisature and the president get it and will do the right thing.

If they vote yes, I will vote yes

October 3, 2008 at 10:32 am

I wasn't around in 1913 when the Congress of the day created the central bank, however, rather than going down the path towards more government intervention, the America citizenry would be better served by far less. Unfortunately, real change of this sort isn't going to happen while the panic alarms are blaring from every power broker in Washington who just want to get back to their electorate with a message of how they're saving America, fixing our future and channeling the divine grace of Congressional decisiveness. Can we vote to abolish Congress?

October 3, 2008 at 10:29 am

Anon E Mous

My Congressman voted yes. He is not runnig for reelection. All those running in my district are opposed to it.

October 3, 2008 at 10:29 am

Wisconsin's Senators are both very liberal democrats. I was surprised to see that Feingold voted nay. I'm sure the only reason he did was for self-serving political gain. I will definitely vote no and encourage everyone that I know to vote no. It's time that w"we the people" take back our country from the political elitest. It's also time to amend the constitution and establish term limits. Look at the congressman up to their necks in the Fanny Mae & Freddie Mac debacle and they are all "career politicians." This was presented to the American people as a "financial crisis", with all the pork that the Senate's bill contains, it's politics as usual by the career politicians. The founders would be appauled at how our representative government has been corrupted. "We the people" are ignored, let alone represented. The United States of America is controlled by a bunch of lifetime politicians who are self-serving at the expense of the American people. NO BAIL OUT. VOTE NO!

October 3, 2008 at 10:26 am

I will be voting 'no' for any member that supports this bailout plan. The promise of this country is that it will provide nothing more than equal opportunity to all. That then means your success or failure is your responsibility. So, the banks and their leaders are responsibile to handle the mess they made, and likewise, our politicians that stood by with their heads in the sand while this was going on, should also be held responsible. Leave the taxpayer alone. Any plan should facilitate the ability of the markets to recover. It should provide incentives (ie changes in cap gain rates) that will prompt those that can invest, to do so and pick up these 'toxic' assets in the hopes that they recover. There's plenty of money around. The government shouldn't gamble - the banks did and lost, Washington shouldn't follow their lead. A 'quick fix' is not what's needed. As long as the public sees smaller and well thought out measures being taken that build steady progress, Wall Street will recover. Once we're on our way, we should be investigating all house and senate key committee members that lied to us and pretended everything was going along smoothly (ie Dodd, B. Frank, Rangel, etc ...).

October 3, 2008 at 10:25 am

I, for one, want my country back! Pinheads have to go!

October 3, 2008 at 10:25 am

Vote NO on the "rescue"! It's filled with pork that will do nothing to help middle America. So people bought houses they couldn't afford, and the banks allowed them to do it. Where's the help for those of us who bought houses within our means, but now not only suck up hundreds of dollars a month in higher fuel costs, have to foot the bill for those who made bad decisions and to help out rum companies, race tracks, etc. I will not vote for any elected official who votes yes to this!

October 3, 2008 at 10:24 am

Here's the website to let your congressman/woman know what you're thinking: https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml

October 3, 2008 at 10:21 am

They will become one of the recently unemployed by voting yes!

October 3, 2008 at 10:18 am

Rep. Dave Obey (D-WI) voted yes to the bailout... Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) voted no to the bailout... Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI) voted yes to the bailout... Senator Feingold will be the only one of those listed above who will get my vote. And I lean right.

October 3, 2008 at 10:18 am

Scott Miller

Why is it that when a large majority of Americans express their opinion that they DO NOT WANT THIS BAILOUT to pass, that our elected officials try their damndest to do it anyway? I called my senators and conveyed my opinion. There were so many folks calling in that the switchboard at the senate was down most of the day. The switchboard operators confessed that almost all of the calls were against the bill. These traitors then went forward voting for it any way. I think we should call them home and put them on trial for treason. I will not vote for anyone who ignores the people that they are sworn to represent and everyone I've talked to feels the same way!

October 3, 2008 at 10:17 am

S Gardner

If you vote Yes then I Vote NO

October 3, 2008 at 10:07 am

I received a letter from Saxby Chambliss, explaining that he did not vote for a bailout. Instead he voted for "The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act..." I know you don't listen to the people of Georgia, as demonstrated by your yes vote, but listen to this IT'S STILL THE BAILOUT BILL and YOU ARE NOT RECEIVING MY VOTE.

October 3, 2008 at 10:02 am

Matt Woodard

My two senators, whom I supported, voted yes to the bill. They are getting 'no' votes next election no matter who is running against them. So far my congressman has voted no to this bill,. If his mind changes to day and he votes 'yes' he can expect the same as my two senators. Take heed all politicains, if you pass this bill you may as well save all that campaign money, you will need it in retirement!

October 3, 2008 at 10:02 am

Congress is the problem. Vote "yes" & I vote "no."

October 3, 2008 at 10:00 am

Walter Wagner, Lakewood, Colorado

If the House of Representatives Vote YES on the Wall Street Bailout passed in the Senate then every individual in Congress including Senator's Obama and McCain are guilty of treason !! Since Mark to Market has been repealed the liquidity problem will be resolved, should banks require additional capitalization they should be required to formally request those funds in writing in the form of a Loan Application with a Business Plan andd Marketing Strategy and IF approved given a loan by the Fed at a rate of Treasury Plus Two Per Cent. No bailout, no freebies and all loans must have detailed specific repayment terms and be secured with BOTH Colloteral and Equity in the Banks and/or Mortgage Companies. But NOT SO MUCH AS A SINGLE PENNY OR A THIN DIME TO CREDIT CARD COMPANIES! These are Predatory Lenders who arbitrarilly and without any justification increase cardholders annual APR thereby quite litterally forcing millions into becoming indebtured consumers. Slavery was abolished, unfortunately credit slavery is alive and well with the blessings of a corrupt Congress and Administration regardless of whether the Democrat or Republican Party are in control. If this immoral, unjust and wholly one sided bailout is passed by Congress than the legitimate citizens of the United States should exercise our God given rights as guaranteed in the Declaration Of Independence and abolish the government and form a new democracy that truly is representative of the Will of We The People. Then the military can conduct tribunals for the treasonous actions of all those who have betrayed We The People,it is undoubtedly a lengthy listed of elected representatives, lobbyist and the elite in Corporate America and Wall Street. God Bless America!

October 3, 2008 at 9:59 am

squeezing the buffalo

I will absolutely vote "no" if they vote "yes." Look at the re-write -- still FULL of GARBAGE! Cut the BS and remove all the BS. Congressman, senators, representatives all show a total lack of respect to the people who they're supposed to represent.

October 3, 2008 at 9:57 am

Banks don't have any money? Didn't I just read that Wells Fargo found $15 Billion or so lying around and bought up Wachovia? And since the bailout bill hasn't been passed yet, I guess they did that just because the assets are now fairly priced. Wells Fargo is confident this will be good for their shareholders - wow, the free markets at work! Citibank has done the same thing, as has Chase. The free market is working, and undercapitalized financial institutions who made bad bets are being bought up - WITHOUT taxpayer money - and the lousy management of those companies are being let go. I'm from Texas and plan to vote against my Senate incumbants (whom I've supported for years) - they got the biggest vote of their lives wrong!

October 3, 2008 at 9:56 am

The people spoke. So much for Democracy. Vote them out !

October 3, 2008 at 9:51 am

I'm A Michigan resident and if my Congressman votes yes I will definitely vote no in November

October 3, 2008 at 9:51 am

Carolyn S.

Absolutely! They vote YES on this bill, I'm voting NO come election time!

October 3, 2008 at 9:49 am

My rep (a republican) voted no on Monday. If he votes yes today I will not vote for him in November.

October 3, 2008 at 9:49 am

Vote the BUMS OUT, no matter how they vote. Term Limits law is a joke, played on the voting public. Voter registration is fraudulent. The voting prosess is a "feel good" action taken so "we the people" can claim we did all we could to force a change for the better. What will be the biggest worry you have when a second REVOLUTION occurs?? Your 401k??? McCain and Obama both say thay will vote yes for the bail-out plan. If you do not vote for ether of them, than who?? It is going to be a long winter!!!

October 3, 2008 at 9:48 am

Martin Kiepke

During my lifetime I have learned that hasty, not well thought out decisions lead to costly disasters. Well known economists have expressed their non-support for this bill. I am not sure who our senators are getting their advice from but it isn't an expert economist. Maybe it is those special interest groups who represent the Investment banks that created this mess. You think?

October 3, 2008 at 9:47 am

There is no doubt that I will vote against any senate/house member that voted for this load of socialist crap!

October 3, 2008 at 9:46 am

Yes, I will do my best to vote them out of office for not listening to their costituency. They say that they are being brave and trying to do what's best. I believe they are being selfish and not listening to reason.

October 3, 2008 at 9:45 am

If my congressman votes "yes" to this bill I will vote "no" for him for any elected office he may ever aspire too. I've already informed my senators that they will never receive another vote from me. I realize that something needs to be done; however, this bill has moved too quickly and other alternatives have not been adequately explored and discussed. I think it is time that we clean house in Washington as neither party has represented the constituency well. Its time for serious investigations, penalities, and jail time for those who have failed this nation.

October 3, 2008 at 9:45 am

My understanding is that the Senate bill is the earlier House bill with a bunch of pork. Not only will I not vote for anyone who voted for it, but I am not sure I will vote for the maverick, um, I mean the lemming, who looked at us all a week ago and said he would veto every spending bill that comes across his desk.

October 3, 2008 at 9:43 am

Citizen in PA

NO WAY will I vote for them, - I'd say: "Don't let the door hit you on the way out"

October 3, 2008 at 9:42 am

ANTHONY H.

If my Texas reps vote for this 100lbs of bs in an 80lb bag, yep, gonna vote no. Then I might just go buy me a pair of riding boots and start kicking ass and taking names. Cause that is what THEY deserve

October 3, 2008 at 9:41 am

I'll probably be more upset if they vote it down and drag this process out any further. If Congress must get involved make their decision and then get out of the way.

October 3, 2008 at 9:38 am

Paragrouper

I intend to vote against the Texas incumbents who chose not to listen to their constituents.

October 3, 2008 at 9:35 am

I have already written to both my US Senator and Representitive asking them to voice my opinion. I do not agree with this bailout. If my govenment does not listen to me, then I will not vote for them. I hope "We the People" has not died.

October 3, 2008 at 9:35 am

It is a real shame that our congress is refusing to listen to the people that elected them. Ladies and Gentlemen it is critical now that we stand together and let our congressman know that we will indeed vote them out if they vote for this bill. It failed once because of the people, we can do it again. Stand tall america and let them know. Thanks, Bryan

October 3, 2008 at 9:35 am

You bet I will send them home!!! ND is a cold place in the winter and I hope they Freeze!!!!

October 3, 2008 at 9:34 am

Kell Haworth

Any Congressman that votes for any bailout I will oppose and encourage others to do the same! Republican or Democrat lets get these traitors out of Washington ASAP!!

October 3, 2008 at 9:34 am

One thing that we need to do is get rid of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act -- that officially allowed commercial and financial banks to combine forces. Clinton passed the law with Greenspan's advice. Paul Volker was right, he warned that getting rid of the Glass-Steagall act that seperated commercial banking from the go-go world of Wall Street, would lead to a financial crises.

October 3, 2008 at 9:34 am

nay, we don't need another depresion, Our Government both Dem & Reps can't seem to balance a check book, why should we help these billionares, what have they done for us. oh yeah , Lie, Cheat and Steal

October 3, 2008 at 9:32 am

I certainly will vote to send home my senator who voted yes on this bill. I will vote to send home my representative if he votes yes too. It's about time we stood against all of this pork, not to mention giving a blank check to a few people in power. Come on, this is America. We need to act like it.

October 3, 2008 at 9:30 am

I am really fed up with the officials in Washington. This is what is wrong with America. Everytime we have a bill it gets loaded with all this pork. If this bill passes or not, I will look to see who voted on it and will do all I can to see they are called out. Those in my city can look foward to haveig fliers passed out on the district to let the voters know who is taking their money and giving it away.

October 3, 2008 at 9:29 am

Cut the "PORK" out of this "resuce" bill and then maybe the good people of the USA will be able to stomach this. Why do any of the Senators/Reps have to tag things like a "race track" onto a bill?? That race track better not try to charge any tax payer for wanting to see a race as that tax payer has already paid his way in. I would like to see the names of every Senator/Rep who tagged something onto this "RESCUE" bill?!?!?! Cut the "PORK" and cut the political crap and get on with business.

October 3, 2008 at 9:23 am

Gary Driscoll

For me, if you voted "yea", I vote "nay".

October 3, 2008 at 9:22 am

Forgive the typos-I get rather upset when talking about this subject.

October 3, 2008 at 9:21 am

Too few voters will either go to the polls or vote their reps out. Remember: A government who robs Peter to pay Paul can always count on the support of Paul. - George Bernard Shaw

October 3, 2008 at 9:20 am

If my elelcted officials vote for a bill that is loaded with pork barrel junk, no, I will note vote for them. If they vote for a bill that takes care of the BLUE COLLAR WORKING AMERICAN, that can't even afford to invest because of our economy, I will walk the streets campaigning for them. I am so sick of everytime any type legislation is past in Washington, it is loaded with pork barrel crap that doesn't even pertain to most true working Americans. Let the greedy slobs on Wall Street pay to get themselves out of trouble. They are the ones with the money, not us!

October 3, 2008 at 9:17 am

We need a common sense, responsible solution for this economic mess. There are other, less costly options for the American citizens. A $750B dollar (plus) bailout is not the answer. Seems to me that our current leadership (both Democrats and Republicans) is in an awfully big hurry to get this thing through. For too long our government has not been honest/truthful/upfront with the American people and I am wondering if this "plan" is just their way of covering up even more dispicable crimes against the American public that we won't be made aware of until year(s) down the road. Does anyone else feel the same? I will vote NO if my representatives vote yes to this plan.

October 3, 2008 at 9:16 am

Mike Smith

If they vote yes, I will vote a resounding NO!!!

October 3, 2008 at 9:12 am

Larry Day

Your DAMN right I will vote to send them home!!!!
