FOX Business On Assignment

This vote shows who really runs America. McBama will never help us. Congress doesn't care. All of them who voted yes are a bunch of despicable pond scum. All of them who voted yes should lose their job. My Senators voted for it. One of them is retiring but the two guys gunning for his job are split on this vote which makes my choice easier. My other Senator is a spineless liar. He writes books acting like he has some sort of character but he's proven his worth. Vote them out should be the rallying cry for the people to vote out these lying thieves.

October 4, 2008 at 8:53 pm

I emailed my Rep (Dan Lungren) and told him a yes vote on this bill would cost him my vote in November. He voted yes so I think it's only right that I stay true to my word. I'm not sure who I will be voting for now, but I know who I won't be giving my vote to. With any luck, Lungren will be looking for new work come January. A few election cycles of incumbents being bounced and maybe they'll get the picture and start actually working for the people. Good riddance to all of them.

October 4, 2008 at 8:57 pm

My representative voted yes...so he will not get my vote. I do not want to be held responsible for other people's mistakes. Why should I have to suffer because lenders lacked ethics and some homebuyers lacked common sense?

We will definately be voting no for any of our representatives that voted for this act of common law robbery.

i made a joke to my dad, who lost up to 33% value on some investments in this Liberal caused Crisis, anyway, i said i wisht Pelosi's plane would just go down one day, and my dad said, there wouldnt be enough of 'em on there. damn straight, i want to see Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd, Obama and a number of other Liberal Democrats and their crazy big governmnet crap sit before a govt. panel under oath and be questioned about their roles in all this mess. Liberal policies dont work. They fail and then the govt. has to bail it all out. Over and over, how many times. Let the free market do its thing with proper regulation. I'll never vote for a liberal even if he's GREEN!

October 4, 2008 at 11:17 pm

I called my Rep before the first vote and said I was against the bailout - He voted Yes I emailed and said I was disappointed in the vote and when I started hearing the details of the revised bill I call and said that if he voted for the revised bailout I will support his opponent and NEVER vote for him in this or any other election. As for my Senators - I have been voting against them since they were elected.

October 5, 2008 at 12:03 am

I will be voting for Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate for president. F. James Sennsenbrenner (R-WI) voted no so he has my congressional vote. I WAS supporting McCain until Friday. On Monday I will be contacting my tax accountant for advice on how to legally minimize my tax liabilities, even if at the expense of profits, maybe I can incorporate as a 501(c)3 non-profit. As far as the big banks and wooden arrow manufacturers are concerned, survival of the fittest, the strongest will survive and the rest become prey. As a result of declining real estate values many McMansions are being bought up by immigrants ( Asian and Latino ) who are pooling their money and having several families, sometimes 5 or more, live together in formally foreclosed McMansions. Maybe soon to be FORMER US Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI) can get a job cleaning the Bradley Center after the Milwaukee Bucks games. p.s. they started this "emergency" at a point where one could not get on the ballot during this election cycle to oppose them. It is still possible to get a write in campaign going in some districts and that will require somebody who has the leadership skills necessary to fast-track a campaign.

I do not think we should have done the bailout, and I will not vote for anyone who voted for it. I also think we need to think seriously about term limits for our representatives and senators.

I will vote against anyone that voted yes, but it is a wasted effort. Oklahoma is full of Republisheep who vote straight party line, and will vote for anything that ain't a Democrat.

Well America! What's it gonna be? Them or us? This is that time in our history that our Founding Fathers warned us about. It has actually happened to us. We are the people that have either just witnessed the end of the United States of America, or the New Beginning of our Republic. The choice is ours. What's it gonna be? Me. I choose to stand. I am standing up and taking My Country back! I am involved. I pay attention. I watch the news and information channels. I listen to talk radio, I read books, I watch CSPAN, I blog on the political websites, I email and call my Congressmen and woman. I joined John McCains Campaign, only to be betrayed by him. Not only did he promote this bill, but he voted for the later, more pork barrel version. Didn't he promise us that if he is President, he would veto all bills that crossed his desk with earmarks? I guess we have to forgive him this time, but trust him in the future if we elect him to the office of the most Powerful Human Being in the Western World. Not me! I wrote him an email letting him know that he lost my vote, not only for the Presidency, but for any future Senatorial seats. Then I emailed the John Mccain Campaign to tell them I no longer support their Candidate, and to quit sending me emails. Do you think I'll get a refund on my financial contribution? After I finished with him, I emailed my other Senator Jon Kyl, to inform him that he lost my vote the next time he is up for election, and for the rest of my life. I had been on the fence with Gabrielle Giffords, but now she lost my vote. Raul Grijalva, however shocked me and voted against it. I am an Independent Conservative, but am more moderate. I believe in governing from the middle. There's good and bad from both sides of the aisle. We need to throw away the two party system. It's broken. IT'S TIME AMERICA! WAKE UP! STAND UP! THE OLD WAY IS BROKEN! TAKE A BOLD STEP IN BRINGING POWER BACK TO THE PEOPLE! VOTE NO ON ALL INCUMBENTS! THROW EM OUT! VOTE FOR A THIRD PARTY CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT! TURN OFF AMERICAN IDOL, AND NFL SUNDAY TICKET, AND TUNE IN TO CSPAN. John McCain won't save the Day! Barack Obama won't deliver you from oppression! Your Congressman will continue to thumb his/her nose at you, and trample you into the ground! BE OUTRAGED! GET INVOLVED NOW, or blame yourself for the oppression you will soon be living under.

How can any American vote for the re-election of a representative who voted "yes" inspite of his or her constituents registering their opinion to vote "no"? After careful research, I registered my opinion with my congress man. I later found out the folks registering their disapproval was in the 90% range and yet my guy still voted "yes". These people are sent to Washington DC to serve our interests. Not the interests of Corporate America, PAC's or anything else. If they can not abide and vote for what the constituents want, we will find someone else to do the job.

October 5, 2008 at 1:38 am

They voted yes to their own pink slips!

I am thinking of making a tour of South Carolina in support of voting everybody out. Every congressman is so out of touch with the average citizen it's sad. None of them deserve a job. If they are voted out I hope they can't find a job and go homeless. If they go homeless I home I'm lucky enough to walk by and recognize them so I can kick an spit on them!

To quote Wilford Brimley in the Paul Newman movie 'Absent Malice': "What'd you figure you'd do after gov't service"?.

October 5, 2008 at 9:17 am

I mailed my absentee ballot yesterday. I did not vote for my senator that voted yea on the bill. I did vote for my congressman that voted no on the bill.

October 5, 2008 at 10:44 am

I will be voting for my Representative and against my Senator because of their votes on this issue. They truly demonstrated where their loyalties are. If they voted yes, then they do not represent me. We do live in a representative democracy, right? My vote may not be enough to tip the balance...but I will vote my conscience.

October 5, 2008 at 12:17 pm

I not only told her I would vote against her,but I canceled her newsletter.Since when does the congress think that they can over ride their constituents and think they can stay in office. When their voted out do they think Nancy Palosi will help them?Oh,I know, she'll get them a job at Fannie or Freddie.

October 5, 2008 at 12:23 pm

I cannot believe that, with all of the people that voiced their requests - our "employees" voted the opposite because "they knew better"... VOTE them out. I will not only vote them out...I will run this next month with the opposition, be it Democrate or Republican. The very day this was being passed; I received no fewer than FOUR calls wanting me to take a loan. The word in the news was that credit was drying up and they were receiving calls from small businesses telling them that they could not borrow payroll!!! I asked each and every caller offering me a loan about this and they were clueless!!! I have asked repeatedly....what happened to the PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance) that all of you people were forced to buy? Nobody will respond!!!! What happened to it?You know this entire issue is making me ill. I have "lost" my dinner so many times in the last week and a half.... THIS IS TOTALLY DISGUSTING!

October 5, 2008 at 12:25 pm

Come on guys, try to understand. Bush, paulson and Bernaki need money for their CEO buddies. Stock prices are so low. Poor/Rich people, and hey if you want Bush another time elect McCain. Good Luck!!!!!!!! We need independent, new young blood, who cares American public. Wake up America, fire your senators and congressmen. GOD Bless America !!!

October 5, 2008 at 1:30 pm

i will be voting no for my maryland representatives who voted yes for this bailout bill. i would like congress to prove thier claim that enough of "thier" constituants called them and told them to vote yes. and by the way, lobbyists dont count. when will the average american get help? thanks for the stimulus, but it didnt last long with the increase of utilities, gas, and food. can the american taxpayer get a bailout now please? where does the line for US start?

October 5, 2008 at 1:43 pm

Dave Gordon

If they voted yes to that Pork Laden Bill then I will be voting on them, period.

October 5, 2008 at 2:03 pm

No, I will not vote for my Senator nor rep. They are histry as far as I am concerned. To be honest, Where has all the true Statesman gone? This is the best they can come up with?

October 5, 2008 at 2:39 pm

You have said it all in these wonderful posts; particularly KevinCoveart and Chris' comments! I will not vote for an incumbent - even those who voted against this bailout. Simply because I feel they are all responsible - senate, house, lending institutions, investors and yes, even the presidency, as well as individuals taking on more debt than they could afford. Thanks to them, my husband and I are well into retirement with a pitifully reduced portfolio!!!! Will we now have to ask our children for financial help because of a bunch of thieves??? Playing by the rules of money management and saving for retirement didn't help us a bit - except to keep our conscience clean! We prepared with hard work and being responsible with our financial decisions! And then we watch it fade away because of others' irresponsible financial decisions? Only in America! As far as I can see, the only difference in these folks and an armed robber is that the robber uses a gun . .these folks used the pen! And our odds of getting it back is about as good as the odds of getting it back from an armed robber! Left to their own volition, Americans CAN and WILL bring it back!!!! That's why I'm gonna do everything I possibly can to see that 'DC' is cleaned out and replace it with new minds/faces to hopefully keep it clean - least as clean as possible. I feel raped - I feel like the Constitution has been trampled on . . .I feel like our thoughts and wishes as Americans have been completely ignored - by a few 'elite'!

Our Senator from Nevada and both of our House of Representatives voted yes for the Bailout. My wife and I will vote no in the next election for all the above individuals. We will even become active against their election. Jim, Henderson, NV

October 5, 2008 at 3:05 pm

When will we realize the fact that these politicians are out for themselves ONLY !!!! How many times do they have to crap on the will of the majority to prove exactly how self-serving they really are. We need tort reform, term limits and an accountability standard. Once established, these bozo's act just like all bozo's do....like clowns, laughing at the working man. Wake up America... our system, thanks to the professional politicians and the lawyers (actually they are typically the same person), is breaking- not broken yet but well on the way. We have to get involved , and not in the m.t.v. way Rock the Vote!!!- but in the responsible, get involved way of community involvement. Stop saying things like,'boy, I wish somebody would blah blah blah. Wake up Americans, we are under ASSAULT by the media machine, the muslims ( and I realize I didn't capitalize muslim because they are nothing more than a hate filled cult) and those wearing the badge of " Democrat" in our government...remember what the say, kill the baby unborn but save the red handed murderer. WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or fiddle while Rome burns

October 5, 2008 at 3:08 pm

I suggest everyone watch the Economy on Fox News to see how all this came about. It is very informative and tells the History of Fannie and Freddie. How Acorn was involved and which of our elected officals fought for reform and which ones fought against it. I think that will help my vote a lot.

October 5, 2008 at 3:25 pm

This is taxation without representation. Anyone who votes for this bs is not doing their job. They work for "we the people" and if they don't do as we say they are fired!

October 5, 2008 at 3:38 pm

J.W. Smith

The Roman senate is alive and well. I will be casting my vote for Rep/Sen inversely to how they voted on the bailout. The difference between the two bills was the amount of pork.Essentially they bought eachothers' votes with no regard to the "will of the people". We as Americans have the right to make mistakes and boneheaded decissions on our governance. We just lost that right.Welcome to the new U.S.S.A. !

October 5, 2008 at 3:44 pm

I will vote to send them home if they 'pass the buck' in their comemnts about the bailout. There are two Democrats from Washington State that voted yes, one blamed the CEOs and the other the Bush Administration. From all the research I've done the political party that caused the most harm were the Democrats and yes there were greedy incompetent CEOs to blame as well. Denying responsibility is what cost those two representatives my vote.

October 5, 2008 at 3:53 pm

This is socialism at it's greatest. The congress got a little scared by the sudden drop in the stock market and they tried to fix it and calm the fears of a lot of Americans. Would this bailout have even been talked about if the IRS came out with the decision that you could write off losses on a purchase? I believe we would have seen all of these companies purchased several month's ago and all would have been forgotten by now.

October 5, 2008 at 4:01 pm

If congress cannot be trusted to make big decisions, we need to vote them out. We need active, dedicated citizens to fix our country. Be a citizen for 365 days by: *vote for local, state, and federal government positions and keep track of your representation *donate to charity *volunteer Congress and the executive branch aren't going to change the country: you will.

October 5, 2008 at 4:52 pm

I already sent letters to my representatives putting them on notice. I fully intend to stick to that pledge and vote them out on Nov. 4 They insists on ignoring the public, their constituents, and no I don't buy the media spin that wants to say it went from a mass public outcry at first to a 50/50 split by the time the bill passed. That's yet another media lie in an election where bias reached levels NEVER before seen in our time.

October 5, 2008 at 5:20 pm

Brian Topping

This debacle started with shortsighted, stupid politicians (whom we all know) trying to give people houses although they could never afford them setting up a failure senario. Add now greedy mortgage brokers and bankers and builders with overpriced products with certain political leaders getting huge monetary gains from dear Freddie and Fanny. Finally you have the current administration who knew about this pending crisis yet did nothing not even warning us. These individuals will pay the political price and America will emerge stronger. We need more oversight not only on industry but especially on these corrupt.self serving, selfish, dishonest, short sighted politicians. Brian

October 5, 2008 at 6:00 pm

I will vote "no" to any Congressman/woman that vote "yes" on this bill. I have tons of questions that I want answered. Which congresamen were "bought off" with each particular piece of the Pork in this bill? Both parties pushed for an oversight committee to keep an eye on this. Who will comprise this committee? What power to do they have? How will the "golden parachutes" be monitored and denied to executives of companies that "caused this mess"? When are we going to learn exactly what happened that caused this mess? How can we hold individual elected officials accountable for their "dishonesty" or incompetence regarding this mess

October 5, 2008 at 6:03 pm

I voted no. My representative Lamar Smith voted yes. So, I will vote against him in up coming election. If my senator voted yes. I will vote against my senator as well. This bailout bill is not going to help the housing market. Therefore, It will not be helping the economy melt down. Barney Franks, Chris Dodds, Cox, etc. need to be removed from office. Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac is the whole reason for this melt down and bailouts. We can thank our Democratic Party for this melt down & job loses. Remember who went home instead of staying and voting for an engery package. Remember who has been protecting Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac. The Democratic Party. Remember who made it pssible to make bad loans by the banks (President Clinton & Democratic Party. Obama was out in bad areas with Acorn helping to get people with no credit home loans. So, wake up people if you want to get this situation corrected. Or put another Democratic in office to lower standard of living and take more money for the low income from middle income.

October 5, 2008 at 7:04 pm

We can thank our Democratic Party for the economy problems and job loss in this Country. Who went home for vacation when we needed an engery bill passed. Also, who has been protecting Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac. These gaints where the complete cause of the housing breakdown in this country. Remeber when President Clinto lowered the standards for getting a home loan in this country. He wanted the lower class to have the dram of owing a homel. Well, he succeeded. Now, look who is paying. home loans. Remember Barney Frank, Chris Dodds, Chris Cox of the banking commitee saying, Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae did not need to be fixed. Remember in 2003 when President Bush, Senator McCain tried to get Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac regulated but the Democratic Party blocked this. Now you are wanting another Democratic in office.

October 5, 2008 at 7:10 pm

Both Corporate Controlled Presidential candidates voted YES. Even though I have never NOT voted Republican in the last 28 years of presidential elections -- I will vote NO for McCain. And the thought of me voting Democrat is just as ludicrous!

October 5, 2008 at 7:23 pm

My husband and I both called the offices of our Congressmen and Senators, and let them know that if they voted FOR the bailout, we would do everything in our power to get them out of office. And we shall.

October 5, 2008 at 8:20 pm

October 5, 2008 at 9:08 pm

I thought that for a change someone would stand up to all the corruption but in the end they waffled and once again the tax payers get the shaft will the fat cats get the gold. somehow I knew it was all a show but we can hope.... I guess ....maybe there is no hope left....sad day for America and the whole world....as we go down the creek with out a paddle

October 5, 2008 at 9:18 pm

I would first like to say that I am disgusted with what transpired in Washington last week. I always knew about the back-scratching that went on in order to get things done, but I have never seen it so transparent as it was last week. I am fortunate that my Democratic Congresswoman Kthy Castor, and one of the Senators of my State, Bill Nelson, had the guts to go against the grain. They have secured my vote for re-election. The other Senator, a representative of my registered party, Mel Martinez will not be so lucky. I can only hope that every single voter who is just as tired will follow suit and vote out the trash out of Washington. On a side note to Don 10/3/08 at 6:41p: Mel Martinez is in no way a representative of all Cuban Americans and your statement is completely ignorant and uninformed. If you do your homework you will find that Cuban Americans are amongst the hardest-working and most educated, not to mention patriotic, minorities and Congress and the United States should consider themselves lucky when and if a worthwhile Cuban American is voted into Congress again. This is in no way an endoresement of Mel Martinez (I voted for Betty Castor).

October 5, 2008 at 9:35 pm

A yes vote by my "elected things" will garner a no vote, as well as campaigning for their opponent. It's called "Blowback" - And It's time they experience it.

For over a HALF CENTURY my wife and I have believed the proper thing to do was to pay our bills on time, -no matter what-. Every mortgage payment, every credit card payment, installment loan, etc. So we did. Even if we had to do without for the time being. Now our retirement and home values have basically fallen in HALF. I have every cent remaining invested in GOLD. It may not pay a dividend, but I know for a fact my -purchasing power- is secure. As they say, an ounce of gold would buy a man a fine suit of clothes in the 1920s, and it ---still will today--- That's good enough for me. And I know that statement is correct and factual.

October 5, 2008 at 11:01 pm

The people we elect are suppose to be a voice for the people who voted for them.....Could they not hear us screaming "VOTE NO".... I guess they wont have a problem hearing us say "GO ON BACK HOME"

I will be voting for my congressman Mario Diaz-Balart. He voted no and h--- no to this bill. He heard the people and saw the devil in the details of this "bail out bill". Damaris Rodriguez Miami, FL

If my representatives voted yes I will, most definitely, vote NO! We need to clean house and start over with honest people willing to represent us in Congress.

October 7, 2008 at 7:19 pm

I will be voting against anyone who voted for this bill. Why shouldn't the banks be accountable for the subprime loans they issued to people. Why should we go into debt for that. We need Dave Ramsey in office to balance the budget and get some common sense back in politics.
