HELL NO

October 3, 2008 at 1:28 pm

Heather Bushnell

I will vote for my reps removal if any they vote "yes." There is a sense of urgency to appeal to the masses because it's an election year. The Party who pushes this through will get the support of the unthinking American people. The people who have a clue about finances and budgets will see this bill for what it really is - major expense for people who make wise decisions to bail out people who make very bad decisions. I hope the representatives are paying attention to what we're saying! I will vote No for any who vote Yes!

October 3, 2008 at 1:28 pm

Teresa in NV

Both of my Senators will be fired in their next election. As will my Congressman if he changes his vote this go around.

October 3, 2008 at 1:27 pm

I've already called my allegedly conservative incumbent,up-for-reelection, Senator's office and notified them I will NOT be voting for him again. My Dem. rep already voted for it once - wouldn't vote for her anyway. Furthermore, I'm off the McCain/Palin bandwagon. They had a chance to show the backbone I thought they had and didn't. No "leadership" there.

October 3, 2008 at 1:26 pm

I just watched the murder of American Democracy. Taxation without representation was our battlecry, well I sure as hell was represented in this vote. How many of your representatives said, the people I represent are to stupid to know what they need so I am going to ignore what they want and vote yes.

October 3, 2008 at 1:26 pm

NO is my vote this bail-out. They want to use this bail-out only - an not any other better bail-out plan as has been suggested by many of your guest on the FoxNews.com. Because they want to introduce their New World Order Plans into place for this counrty. But this is only my opinion on it only.

October 3, 2008 at 1:26 pm

Fred Hafer

A vote yea sends my representative packing. Jim Webb, John Warner (retiring anyways) and Thelma Drake......vote yes for this and I will do everything in my power to send you packing. If you vote yes then you are a Wall Street pimp and a sell-out.

October 3, 2008 at 1:26 pm

Doug Smith

I will not vote for my representative if she votes for this joke of a bill. The PORK remains and this is a classic example of why I don't eat pork anymore.....VERY BAD FOR YOUR BODY JUST LIKE THIS PORK IS BAD FOR OUR AMERICAN TAXPAYER BODY. NO....DON'T VOTE YES FOR THIS MESS

October 3, 2008 at 1:24 pm

Well that's it. It's over. It passed. A vote for pork and power. A vote against capitalism. This is one small step for man....one giant leap for big government. The only question now, is how long with this artificial boost help before it collapses back to reality. That's it. I'm buying gold.

October 3, 2008 at 1:24 pm

A view from across the border ... Most of the letters here are adamant that they would vote our their representative if they support the bailout package. If I assumed for a moment that half the writers' representatives are Democrat and the other half Republican, that could potentially mean that you would just swap your existing representative and his / her party, for the representative of the other party. This would be a futile gensture - better that your reps seek whatever it is the US needs to do to rebuild your financial sector, without giving handouts to some of the people who caused it. It also occurs to me that a month from now, if your employer downsizes and lays you off because the meltdown dried up credit lines and they were then unable to carry out their normal business activities, you'll again be upset at your representative for *not* doing something to ensure jobs are protected during these difficult times. If you read about the Japanese meltdown from a few years ago, you'll see what could happen when one does nothing. And for those who might ask me "You're Canadian. What business is this of yours?", let me assure you that as one of your largest suppliers of raw materials (and THE largest foreign supplier of your foreign oil supply) and biggest customer of your manufactured goods, our economies are so profoundly linked that when you sneeze, we catch a cold. And conversely, if we were to shut down the tar sands, your oil supply would be in serious trouble. We're linked, Canadians are therefore deeply interested in you, and if ever this interconnectedness changes, we'll probably lose interest in American politics.

October 3, 2008 at 1:24 pm

Looks like my rep just voted yes so he will not be getting my vote in November - looks like they decided to bail out China, UK, France and anybody else who wants do dump their trash on the American taxpayer - welcome to the United States of Toxic Debt

October 3, 2008 at 1:24 pm

Boom! The bill passed. So we have at least 263 members of the House who need to start looking for new jobs. Maybe that's why they voted yes, they hope to creat a few jobs for themselves before things really go south.

October 3, 2008 at 1:24 pm

I bought a modest home I could afford and have made all my payments on time. Boy am I stupid! I could be living in a kalf-millon dollar house, not making my payment and they will reduce my mortgage obligation, my payments and my interest rate

October 3, 2008 at 1:24 pm

Matt Richie

I will be voting against Lugar for the first time next time he runs. I have always voted for him in the past. He is no longer a man of the people.

October 3, 2008 at 1:24 pm

Yes, will be voting against my Senators who voted for it and will vote against my Rep. if he votes for it.

October 3, 2008 at 1:23 pm

Yes vote from them = a no vote from me! Send their a$$ home...

October 3, 2008 at 1:23 pm

Brian Sutton

Absolutely. In fact, I plan to actively support their opponent.

October 3, 2008 at 1:22 pm

Amy Walsh

If they vote YES, my vote will be "HELL NO" to them. go home and be unemployed.

October 3, 2008 at 1:22 pm

Dan Haahr

I will vote no and encourage everyone I know to send home any congressman that votes yes on this bill!!!!! There has been way to much pork added to this allready flawed bill!! This is will go down in history as the biggest powergrab ever if it passes. GO BACK TO WORK AND DO IT RIGHT!!!

October 3, 2008 at 1:21 pm

I know my rep voted yes. And in 30 days I'll vote him out.

October 3, 2008 at 1:21 pm

Proud to be an American

I would like to see a timeline of the voting. The undecided voters who held out until the "magic number" was reached then they could vote "nay" for the (VOTES) record are just as guilty as a congressperson who voted "Yea". They should be voted out of office, too!

October 3, 2008 at 1:20 pm

Margie in MN

My rep voted for it the first time so I expect she will again, so I will be voting No to her on Nov 4th.

October 3, 2008 at 1:19 pm

Cindy Peters

I SAY NO WAY TO BAILING OUT ANYONE. I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DECISIONS THEY HAVE MADE AND I SURE AS HELL DON'T EVER WANT TO TRY. OUR ECONOMY WILL SUFFER FROM THIS BUT I SAY LET THE MARKET RECOVER ON IT'S OWN. IT IS TIME TO SAVE EVERY PENNY WE HAVE AND HOPE THAT PEOPLE LEARN THAT YOU CAN'T LIVE ON CREDIT. I WILL "DIG DOWN DEEP" BUT ONLY TO TIGHTEN UP MY BELT AND NOT TO HAND OVER ANY MORE OF MY EARNINGS SO THAT A FEW WEALTY PEOPLE WON'T LOOSE LOTS OF MONEY THEY HAVE INVESTED IN THE VERY MARKET WE ARE BEING TOLD WE MUST RESCUE.

October 3, 2008 at 1:19 pm

Dr. Herb from Savannah

Saxby Chambliss, if you vote yes on that damn pork filled bailout, you will never get this conservative vote again. Same for any of the Georgia congressmen.

October 3, 2008 at 1:19 pm

Kurt Devore

Almost every economist I have heard or read about has said this plan is a bad plan & does not fix the underlying problems in the markets & our economy. Yet, most of these people in Washington think they know better than even the experts, and their job is to "protect" us from ourselves. Outrageous!!! This is just more fear & politics. I will vote against both of my senators who supported the plan, and my representative who voted yes the first time and plans on voting for it again. I am for the common sense plan.

October 3, 2008 at 1:17 pm

Ron Miller

A yes from them is a deffinite NO from me. I already told Mr. Salazar to expect my NO vote.

October 3, 2008 at 1:16 pm

Jason Cooley

My vote is NO and if the cowards on the Hill think that a NV will save their rear-ends they are wrong too. Yes we have an issue, but there are market solutions and we should use them not socialism. I have read through this mountain of a bill, hr 1424 and it smells as nasty as a pig farm in July!!!

October 3, 2008 at 1:16 pm

tom from Ohio

i wonder how many of those that voted no are up for re-election this year. Were they planned so that enough yes's were in to allow those up for re-election to vote no, so they could get re-elected.

October 3, 2008 at 1:13 pm

We must like debt. I don't believe this bailout will ultimately help. It's like putting a bandaid over the problem and ignoring a better solution. We are rushing into this and allowing FEAR not WISDOM to overcome in this decision. Stupid. I will vote them out if they vote this in.

October 3, 2008 at 1:13 pm

Welcome to the age of "we will just keep bringing it back until it passes". Seems to be a reoccuring trend, i say NO! and throw the bums out!

October 3, 2008 at 1:11 pm

tom from Ohio

i called all my congress reps and senators. Voinavitch took his phone off the hook, i assume becuase he was embarrassed to have voted yes. Brown's office said he would vote not, but he voted yes. Kaptor (and other Ohio Reps) said they would vote no and i saw 2 of their presentations where they supported their positions. i will actively campaign against any representative who claims to represent us and doesn't by voting yes. Connecticut should be particularly ashamed of Shay who pretty much said his constituents were urging him to vote no, suggested alternatives, but didn't know what they were talking about, didn't understand and he would represent their ignorance by voting yes. Damn all the vote yes people and particularly Barney Frank who let it happen in the first place, and now takes credit for "saving" us.

October 3, 2008 at 1:11 pm

Congresswoman Cubin - Wyoming. Vote "Nay" or lose my vote. Listen to your constituents and not to the banks. I don't buy this "main street" theme that permeates the air. It smells like perfume being poured on the fish heads to make them smell better. This bill stunk like a skunk last time, and it hasn't gotten better with age, or the main street air freshener.

October 3, 2008 at 1:10 pm

If this Bill passes the house, you can guarantee you're current middle to low income for another 10 years. This is another 911. The difference is, these victims will die a slow and painful death!

October 3, 2008 at 1:10 pm

they vote yea; I vote no at the polls.

October 3, 2008 at 1:08 pm

I will vote AGAINST any representative that does not vote for this bill. The fat cats on Wall Street will stay fat no matter what happens. The credit crisis is going to ruin our economy and ordinary Americans like me will suffer the consequences. Its not fair, but that's just the way it is. Without the rescue, Main Street is finished. We are in for a massive depression if they don't pass this bill!

October 3, 2008 at 1:08 pm

Proud to be an American

I am going to the bank. First thing...cash this little check. Deposit it...NO! Second, I will withdraw anything I have available and take it with me. What happens when this doesn't work? God Bless America!

October 3, 2008 at 1:07 pm

Adam at Blue Shield

LUNGREN and DOOLITTLE are OUT if they vote for this piece of pork-laden bail-out nonsense. I concur somehting must be done, but breaking the back of taxpayers to "save" companies offering 20 million golden parachutes is NOT the answer!

October 3, 2008 at 1:06 pm

We don't need these clowns to "represent" us. Aren't they suppose to vote the will of the people? We need TERM LIMITS. Both of my Senators voted yes and I'm not voting for them ever again. I've spreading the word around how they represent us, to my surprise most already know how greedy they are. Only one is up for election this year. I have a long memory and time to work to get the other Senator out. I do get to vote agianst my "Representitive" and I am working hard to get his opponent elected.

October 3, 2008 at 1:03 pm

Jim Anderson

No incumbents running in my District this time, but it is the time for Term Limits and throw all the pork barrel bums out of office ASAP! They just put more salt in the wounds. Hopefully, McCain will get in and make a difference (and change his stupid opinion about drilling in Anwar).

October 3, 2008 at 1:03 pm

Mr. Flood

I am voting no on them no matter how they vote. This is not what we need. This bill is full of junk that has nothing to do with the situation.

October 3, 2008 at 1:01 pm

Add 110 billion more to a bill that is said to be the only way out and the lemmings will follow exclaiming "Look what I got for you". Thank God some Representatives think for themselves and have alternatives. It is just to bad the others can’t see the “Forest through the Trees”. I have already told Senator Saxby Chambliss based on his vote on this issue he will not be receiving my vote in 31 days and I will influence a few others to not vote for him.

October 3, 2008 at 1:01 pm

I will do my best to vote everyone out. Everyone. Clinton, Schumer, Engel, Lowey, Crowley. Your numbers up. You liberal bastards that say you despise the rebublicans are just going along with it. Well, Wait to se thevoter backlash. I will not stand silent anymore. My money is worthless anyway and I will spend it to bring justice to the American People. NAncy Pelosi is such a stupid jerkoff, how she got elected is beyond me. No more Republican or democrats. There is only one party. THE STEALING PARTY. F U and the crap you spew. The Fed is UNCONSTITUTIONAL PELOSI. WAKE THE F UP!

October 3, 2008 at 1:01 pm

John Shipley

If the PORK is removed and they vote yes, then I will not hold that against them, if the PORK remains, they will not get my vote.

October 3, 2008 at 1:00 pm

YEPPPER WHY IN THE HELL SHOULD MIDDLE AMERICA PAY FOR FORIEGN INVESTORS. THEY GOT IN IT ,,LET THEM GET OUT

October 3, 2008 at 12:59 pm

Robert Fulton

If this was such a dire straight why did congress take the day off and the weeks off just before ? If this is so dire why is the speaker flying home in taxpayer 747 ? Put the damn planes on e-bay lock the door to the capital and turn out the lights no one home any way. bill is a Bail out of wall street and a 10 year job for the lawyers and their kids. I am done with all of them.

October 3, 2008 at 12:58 pm

ABSOLUTELY. If Chaka Fattah (D- PA) votes for this bill; I and EVERYONE I know will vote this idiot out in November.

October 3, 2008 at 12:57 pm

mark williams

I will vote no, if they vote yes.

October 3, 2008 at 12:55 pm

Richard Handfield

I sent an email to both my senators and my congressman before they voted. Told them if you vote yes I will vote against them next time they are up. They better start looking for another job!! THROW THE BUMS OUT!!!!!!!!!

October 3, 2008 at 12:55 pm

Walt Rudy

If they vote “yes” , I’ll vote “no” and no amount of campaigning by them in the next 30 days will change my mind. I feel that, no matter where the blame lies (there's plenty of culpability on all sides to go around for government and business alike), that members of congress are acting irresponsibly by interfering with the market. Those companies that made poor, irrational or fraudulent choices don’t warrant government intervention and should be forced out of the market. The fraudulent ones should be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible. It’s sad that the government was so quick to make sure that mortgages were being placed with persons not qualified to get them without mandating that they first receive the education and tools to manage their household finances. This may have helped ensure that these people were fiscally responsible and accountable for the repayment of their mortgages. I further feel that many of the members of congress are just trying to protect their own jobs and interests under the ruse of trying to help those of us on “Main Street” who are ultimately affected. I laud those of them who are actually voting the will of the people. If our financial system were truly a “house of cards”, it would have collapsed long before now. I also believe this was a ploy for President Bush to salvage a portion of his presidential legacy. After all, the banks are in the business of extending credit. Those individuals and businesses that are creditworthy will get it. It may cost more but that’s the current environment. I also understand that 93% of mortgagees are current and only 2% are in foreclosure. This is far from a disaster. Those that are less creditworthy should have less credit available to them. How can the government pick and choose which companies they're willing to protect (AIG) and who they're willing to let fail (Lehman Bro)? This "crisis" didn't happen overnight and can't be corrected overnight through hasty actions. The failure in the administration's and the congress' oversight of the banking & finance industry is truly egregious. Their fiduciary responsibility to the public has been breached to the point that there is little trust by the public in congress' and the administration's ability to effectively handle this situation. Tough times are on the way for those of us on ”Main Street” regardless of the action that the congress and the administration plan to take in the next few days. Pathetically, Walter R. Rudy Wadsworth, OH

October 3, 2008 at 12:54 pm

So they added more pork (stealing more of our money) to the deal. Hmmm Congress creates bill, congress votes and turns it down, congress then adds more pork, congress then votes for and approves it. Yep, that makes sense. "We the people" ought to start looking at the Constitution and what has to be done to legally regain control of OUR country from a run away and wildly out of control non representative government.
