Weigh In: If They Voted Yes, Will You Vote No?

A YES vote by my Representative is a NO Vote for me. This issue is not all that complicated. Bailout is more taxes in the wings. The alternative to my Representative is a Democrat. If necessary, I'll give him a chance. It can't be any worse then the tactics in place now.

I hope they vote yes.

I am not happy about the need for this bill, and I am not happy about the pork that was added by the Senate. But I prefer the bailout over FINANCIAL DISASTER. AS such, I will be voting NO for my congressman because he voted NO.

They must have been told what is going to happen whether this bill passes or not & don't much want to stay in Washington for the fallout. I will vote for representatives that vote NO on this bill & vote to throw out those that support it.

Yes, I will vote no. I will also campaign against anyone that votes for this bailout. It is a good illustration of how precarious our freedom has become. In only a few weeks we will have gone from a country of free people to a nation of slaves working for a socialist state, all without a single shot being fired. All of these bailout packages will combine to turn a 2 year market correction into a decades long depression, with no end in sight.

I say throw all the bums out of the house and senate. They got us into this mess!

I could not possibly bring myself to vote for the opponenets, but I will probably simply not vote in the congressional race given my representative (Frank Wolf) voted yes before and will almost certainly do so again. I certainly cannot bring myself to vote for him if he supports this.

You are darn right if they vote for it, I vote to send them home. Have already written them and told them as much. They are supposed to represent the people. If they don't listen to the majority, why keep them in there.

This not an interpretation for the definition of what 'is' is... Yes is a definite NO. NO means NOT VOTING for my Representative, ASAP! The alternative [Democrat] can't do any worse!

If vote is yes my vote will be NO. I will do everything I can in my circle of contacts to sway their votes to NO as well. I am so tired of our elected officials NOT listening to the people they are supposed to be representing!!!!!

It does not matter how THEY vote. I will not cast my vote to return any of my Representaives or Senators to Washington. Investment banks, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac did not make up the rules under which they operate folks. It has been my experience that greedy blood suckers can only exist when the environment is favorable for them. Who created the environment? Those of us who are old enough to have gone through the process to purchase a home in the 70’s recall the hurdles you where required to jump through to obtain a loan. Who changed the process and why? You may want to take a look a Congress who has practiced Bread and Circuses for the purpose of buying votes for decades. The hue and cry to NOT bail out Wall Street is simply diverting your attention from the REAL problem. Our own government. A government that is beyond out of control, it’s dangerous.

Until I hear that all of our less than wonderful representatives admit to screwing up and screwing us then anyone who votes to take another $700 bln out of the taxpayers pocket then I will will commit myself and whatever is at my disposal to ensure they are not reelected. Even though they may not make it back to the capitol they still get an unbelievable pension and benefits for life. It's high time the citizens of this country take it back and get rid of these carpet baggers and find people who are willing to truly represent us not themselves. I will vote to bring Mitch McConnell home to the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky this November due in part to his support of this bill but also for his complete lack of leadership in the Senate. When Senators DeMint, Sessions, and Shelby have more to say on any given topic than the Minority Leader there is a huge problem. My Representative, and I use that term loosely, is Ben Chandler. I would most likely vote to being him home regardless of his vote on this bill.

I will still vote no. The media and politicians who favor this bill are trying to scare us about the frailty of the economy so that they can fulfill their hidden agendas and I am not about to buy into the whole charade. The economy goes up and down and will always come back up regardless of how low it gets. Passing an anti-free market bill will not free the economy of the United States which happens to be a free market. The economy wouldn't be in such a bad situation if people didn't go into so much debt or take out loans, etc. Not to mention the companies that made stupid and corrupt decisions. God help America and the Constitution if that bill gets passed.

This is a panic reaction which just throws money at the problem. It does nothing to fix the problem of these sub prime loans being sold to home buyers in the first place. Unless this is addressed 700 billion dollars will just be a bandaid placed on a gaping wound.

Have repeatedly let my House Representative and Senators know I will vote against them if they vote for this. Both TX Senators voted for it so I will vote against them. It's looking more likely that I will vote against all incumbents in November.

I have written every rep in my state that they can pack there bags if they they vote yes for this! The peoples voice is not being listened to. The people will not soon forget this on election day!

We are going to find out if the House of Representatives are representing their constituents or their contributors (lobbyists). I echo the comments of Mark W. above with the same sentiments on the same representatives and extend it to both Texas senators. Best case is that some new conservative blood will step up to the plate to run against them on the senate side and that Rep. Granger will vote "NO" today.

Both McCain and Obama voted YES. A number of us are going to have a hard time deciding who we want to vote for. How do we vote.... "No confidence"?

I plan on becoming more active than ever in an effort to replace my senator and representatives that vote for this bailout. I will become a loud mouthed adversary in order to remove these leeches from our government.

Obama, McCain and Biden all voted for it. Although I'm totally against it, it would have been an easier pill to swallow if they hadn't added all the pork. I can definitely say that I will vote against my local representation since they voted for this package.

The $700B is incorrectly called a "bailout". It will not "fix" the problems that caused this mess. It will only delay the inevitable. Frankly, I find it very odd that we have a nice round number ($700B) without any details of why it is that number. Why isn't it something like $647B for example or $923B? I would want to see some detail on where the $700B number came from....and more important....how it will be doled out. Without details, I am skeptical it will all get used properly. There are probably people already trying to figure how they can skim money for their own personal gains.

The $700 billion bail out bill has America in an uproar. Depending upon what poll you look at you will see that 70% - 90% of Americans are against the bill. Still congress is pushing through with it despite what their constituents are telling them. It seems that our “Representative” based government, the government that has pledged to represent its people, isn’t listening to the people they represent one bit. This has sent a clear message to Americans that far too many senators and representatives have been in Washington too long. It is apparent that several of these government officials have moved from an honorable position of service to a self appointed station of authority and entitlement. These people need to go home, and I’m confident that next month we will see Americans show their disapproval with their voting cards. A government that does not listen to its people is not a democracy. It can be called many things such as Communistic and Socialistic, but never Democratic. Many of us have stated that if their elected officials do not do what we are asking them to do then we will do everything in our power to make sure those officials are not re-elected. I have already told my elected leaders that if they vote for the bill I will vote for their oppenent next month, regardless of his or her party.

I’ve called my representative and encouraged him to vote “NO” on the package. I will not support his re-election if he supports it! Sorry, but it’s time that a correction occur and that we let the chips fall where they may. As a country and as individuals we have spent way beyond our means. It may be bitter medicine but I believe we will be much stronger on the recovery side of this illness.

My senators did not vote for this bailout. Thanks goodness. I hope the reason was not because they did not get enough pork! If my reps vote for it, I will not vote for them.

Obama and McCain, both voted for this bill, I will be voting 3rd party candidate or write in Ron Paul, but either way both these men have lost my vote and I am a strong Republican. This is a travesty on the American people; we were supposed to be a free people, NOT SLAVES!!! And yet our government does not listen to us anymore. I have just learned my Senator, Kay Bailey-Hutchinson voted yes in the Senate's version of the bill. I had called and emailed her office encouraging her to vote NO to this bill. I have supported her for years. Now I will not cast my vote for her anymore. If my Congresswoman, Kay Granger votes yes in the House it will be my intention to contribute to the unseating of two long time incumbents. I think our fellow countrymen and countrywomen understand the dire situation we face but to shoulder us with an additional $700 BILLION dollars in debt because of the greed and wanton conduct of allegedly intelligent individuals in the banking/financial instruments industry is outrageous. I hope this situation brings the people of this nation together to demand change and accountability from the business men and women and politicians such as has never been seen in history and that we 'as the people' can set an example for the rest of the nations that in a democracy 'we the people' do in fact run the country and we are a good and responsible to our own and to our neighbors.

A 'yes' vote by my House Rep. means a 'no' vote for me at re-election time. (Vern Ehlers - are you listening?) Michigan Sen. Stabenow voted NO - Carl Levin voted YES. I don't care for either one, but Stabenow is the lesser of two evils and seems to have more common sense than Levin. "We The People" have been screaming NO NO NO for more than a week, but it seems our lawmakers are turning a deaf ear. The amount of pork in the Senate bill sickens me. Why has anything been added at all? Blackmail, and look how many fell for it. To the House - stay strong! Vote this sham/scam DOWN and let's take a little time to look at other avenues, and instead of applying a band-aid, let's work to FIX this.

I have been very busy emailing and calling for two weeks, I read the Senate bill and it is the same package with EXTRA spending!!! Yet no real help for those in trouble with Mortgages, those that are able to keep their houses that is. Wow they just don't get it. My Congresswoman in NH listened to the voters and went against the Democratic leadership!!! This is truly amazing. (Gave up on Senators from NH. I will likely remember to FORGET them at voting time.) I told Carol Shea-Porter this week it is still a no from me. Why not loans to the bank as this was what was used to get us out of the Depression. The banks need liquidity so give them money, let them be responsible for getting themselves out of trouble then pay the taxpayer back. Will we ever learn from our past mistakes???

I sent a message to the people who are theoretically supposed to represent me in Congress. The revised version of the cover-up bailout bill is much worse than the original. Why is it impossible for Congress to take the one-page common sense fix that Dave Ramsey put together and turn it into a law? The American people are no where near as stupid or powerless as they think we are. The message I sent to Congress was VOTE NO OR GO HOME!

I've already changed my mind on McCain. He just told us at the last debate that he would "name names" and "make people famous" for the pork. His first chance and he votes for a pork bill! This is about responsibility! I am very frustrated right now. I keep trying to tell my kids to take responsibility for thier actions and here are our leaders (representing us?) doing the opposite. There is no reason to rush through a bill everyone says is bad. If they told me this would solve everything it would be different. We have already given Billions in the last month to avoid this very thing, why will it work this time? I wish we had real leadership! We are in this mess because of a lack of resposibility. If they vote for this bill I vote no for them. The easist way out that no one is mentioning is 1. start by buying up the stock, 2. Spend go to walmart buy that big screen tv. That is how the stock market will recover. 3. instead of bailing out the banks let them fail and give that 700 Billion to the American People. This will engourage spending

Congressman Castle is up for re-election on Nov 4th and already notified him he will loose my vote if he votes YES for this bill. He voted yes last time.
