I will be voting to fire Dennis Moore. America, we need to rise up against this, these idiots work for us, and they basically gave us the middle finger. Someone is in a quiet office in DC as I write this at 7pm cst, on a Saturday, working to figure out how to spend the "profits" of this bailout sham. It will be spent before a dollar is realized.

I am torn. I think this was difficult for my officials who voted "yes". I don't think they liked it one bit. However, I am most annoyed by the email I received that stated all the reasons that my Senator voted yes, begrudgingly... but then he added what WE would get in the bill! I felt as though I were party to a mugging! Like we happened upon a drowning victim and offered to throw him a line...ONLY if we could have 20 buck, first! That to me will make me think long and hard before voting for this person who would have been an easy "straight ticket" choice. ALSO.... I want Barney Frank and Chris Dodd IMPEACHED!

October 4, 2008 at 7:54 pm

Any rep voting yes should be sent home. This is a total betrayal of the American people by our so called representatives. Fire them all.

October 4, 2008 at 7:37 pm

$810,000,000.00 will do nothing to solve this problem. Read the Bill (Law). The IRS has been granted broad new powers (similar to Bush's Patriot Act) to spy on you. Forget about the bows and arrows----The American people just got SCAMMED.

October 4, 2008 at 7:37 pm

Thomas Dockery

Get a copy of the bill and read it. What the hell does wooden arrow shafts have anything to do with bailing out Wall Street? These "repesentatives" of THE PEOPLE have no clue what they have just done. VOTE OUT EVERY INCUMBENT THAT VOTED YES ON THIS BILL. It's..."We, the people"...NOT, "we the politicians". I can't calm down after the vote yesterday! I feel like I have been betrayed...and, I have been. I've read the bill, and it has so much pork in it, it could be served with eggs for breakfast! I'm appauled at the errogance of these bastards and bitches in Washington! Get them out of office. Get these "lifetime" politicians away from our money. The Government has no money...it's ours and yet, they spend it as if it were pennies on the dinning room table. Harry Reid said a few months ago something like...The pile of money is there and I'm going to take what I can...! He has two more years and he must know he is OUT...he keeps doing everything he can to spend OUR money!

October 4, 2008 at 6:39 pm

This is indeed a sad day in American history. Most of the people sent to Congress to represent the people only represent themselves and the special interests who put money in their pockets with a wink and a nod. I wrote my congressman and 2 senators. Only my congressman voted no as I requested. Both senators, however, voted yes...one is up for re-election and I will vote NO! Both of my senators also tried, along with Ted Kennedy and John McCain, to force immigration reform on us and I have not forgotten! When will these people actually listen to the loud and resounding voice of the American people?

October 4, 2008 at 6:08 pm

proudtobeanamerican

Here's my advice: If your congressman voted yes, vote yes for the opponent. If your Senator is up for election this November and voted yes, vote for their opponent. If your Senator is up for election in November 2010 and voted yes, remember that and tell him/her right now you will not vote for him. Regarding Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee (ie McCain and Obama, since they both voted yes) you tell them they need to participate in the down payment of this $700 -$850 billion fiasco by donating their campaign contributions. In the immortal words of Senator Everett Dirksen of Illinois..." A billion here, a billion there and soon you're talking about real money. Remember my fellow Americans this country is great not because of our elected representatives, but in spite of our elected representatives.

I have never not voted for a republican in Congress in all my 49 years, but since Congressman Putnam from Florida voted for this bill. I will be voting him out. I love this young man for many of his stands, but this bail-out will go down in history as a giant step forward toward destroying our beloved Nation. I'm sure he thought he was doing what he had to do by voting for this bill. Well...Mr Putnam. On election day I too will cast my vote for what I think I have to do. No Congressman no matter from what party....should be reelected, if they cast a vote for this bail-out!!! I think our Goverment needs to learn a hard lesson. It needs to once again realize that this Goverment is about...."We The People" and not about "We the Congress"

October 4, 2008 at 5:04 pm

By the way, my Senators voted yes. I will casting my vote against them next time they are up for election.

October 4, 2008 at 5:01 pm

Luckily (for me anyway) my Congressman voted no. I will support him in the next election because of it.

October 4, 2008 at 5:00 pm

I am furious. I will not vote for ANYONE who voted YAY for this BAIL OUT TO NOWHERE. This will have dire repercussions on our elections, and yet, we have to send a LOUD message to them. We have to SHOUT this to them. They ignored the Will of the People, and we will not support them with our vote. This changes everything...

October 4, 2008 at 4:46 pm

I have always voted for the person I deemed was the best candidate - not just democrat or republican. Those who voted Yes have clearly voted against the public voice and me. I will therefore be voting NO NO NO NO NO!!! I hope the replacement will be more in tune with reality.

October 4, 2008 at 4:20 pm

My Representative, Thaddeus McCotter made a big deal of voting NO, but that cost me money, and is bad for the economy. So for the first time I am voting for Joseph Larkin, the Democratic challenger, and sent him a campaign donation immediately. McCotter needs to learn, what McCain already knows: COUNTRY FIRST! You can stuff your ideology, the economy needs this bill. The first bill was NOT burdened with a lot of the junk the second bill was, and the defeat on Monday most likely killed McCain's chances of winning the election, although I will still vote for him. McCotter deserves to take his fat congressional pension and go back to his private law practice. I will do EVERYTHING I can to make that happen for him!!!

October 4, 2008 at 4:16 pm

PROTEST!! DON'T VOTE FOR MACAIN!!

October 4, 2008 at 3:54 pm

It is clear, now more than ever, that we need to vote for a third party. Please, in protest, consider voting for the Libertarian candidate for president, Bob Barr. Remember, both of the major party candidates voted yes for this "bailout" bill.

October 4, 2008 at 3:35 pm

This Bill was voted for against the citizen's better judgment. The people voted NO and Congress voted yes. I hope you enjoyed your jobs Reps and Senators. I hear McDonald's is hiring. The internet will be shutdown. A fake e-terror attack is in the works so the fed can take away our rights online too. Get ready! Bye bye crooks!

October 4, 2008 at 3:33 pm

Bet Your Ass. Blackburn voted against - she still gets my vote. Alexander & Corker *BOTH* voted 'yea' in the senate. THROW THE BUMS OUT!

If they chose not to hear their constituents....we'll just need to raise our voices a bit louder in November...Maybe then, they'll hear us when there back home looking for a new job....welcome home!!!! PS: how do you like your Pork?

My senator, Senator Hutchison voted for the bail out bill, I will vote againest her . My state rep. Gohmert voted againest the bail out and I will support him in the upcoming election. The will of the common man was denied inorder that the people who created the problem can further profit from their mistakes. It seems to me that if the Feds really wanted to get the economy moving they should divide the 1.5 trillion dollars up amoung the tax payers, let us pay off all our debt, buy the things we need, and there by stimulating the economy. Instead the fat cats will filter the dollars through their hands to get their fees, cuts and profits allotting to us the tax payers who gave them the money nothing unless we are willing to pay them by way of interest and fees for the use of our own money. How many times must we the taxptayer pay the goverment, the politicians and their fat cat friends?

Blackmailing America and the American Economy In order to cover their own assets, the non-producing sector of the American Economy (banking and insurance) has successfully blackmailed the producing sector of our economy into bailing them out. Facing bankruptcy and dissolution due to their own predatory lending practices and what would normally be described as despicably poor decision-making at the highest levels, the world banks cut off credit lending to the healthy sectors of the economy in order to force Congress and other world governments to cover their losses. Banks and insurance companies produce nothing of value. At best, the sole benefits of a bank or insurance company is to extend monies to credit-worthy companies and individuals (for which they receive a profit in interest payments and the banks' ability to "create" money out of thin air through fractional lending), covering losses (for which they receive a profit in premiums, the gains from the investment of premiums, and interest payments on loans of those premiums), and in employing the relatively few individuals required to perform these tasks. When banks and insurance companies perform these tasks wisely and with honor, they are worth having around. But when they purposefully make horrendous decisions in lending - while skimming billions off the top in payroll, bonuses, and golden parachutes - then demand that the government(s) bail them out under threat of destroying the healthy remainder of the world's economy, they are less than worthless - they are criminal. These entities should have been forced into bankruptcy and the top echelon of management who directed this debacle should be criminally prosecuted for fraud. In addition, those "solvent" banks who refuse to extend credit to viable creditworthy businesses and individuals (in support of the insolvent firms) should be prosecuted for blackmail. This is what comes of Congress neglecting their Constitutional responsibilities regarding the Nation's monetary system and turning it over to a private banking conglomerate (the so-called "Federal" Reserve). Congress itself should be ejected from office for dereliction of duty - at the very least, those who caved in to the bailout plan - regardless of political party.

October 4, 2008 at 2:15 pm

I went out today (Saturday, Oct. 3). I was amazed at the lines of employees waiting to get paid in front of every store I went in! Seriously, I have never seen a worse group of lemmings going over the cliff than the Republicans who supported this bill. And they didn't even have facts on their side. I have already advised Eric Cantor's office (formerly called "my Congressman") that I will not vote for him now or ever again. If you are a conservative, then it is just going to get worse -- no matter which of the candidates wins the presidential office. Some things to think about: McCain says he wants to appoint Andrew Cuomo to the SEC. He also plans to use Al Gore (his good friend whose opinion he values, says McCain) as his global warming advisor! The new regulations on home mortgages taken over by the gov't will be able to force lenders to reduce the principle balance. People with money should move it to guaranteed products and give up on the untrustworthy operators on Wall Street. They talk free market but stand with their greedy hands out when things get tough on the Street. A pox on them.

I will voting to get rid of Sen. Coburn and Rep. Fallin. They fell to the pressure and did not do what their constituents wanted.

October 4, 2008 at 1:48 pm

My representative voted no both times. For that, he will get my vote this November. However this is not so fot the senators. They have not earned a vote from me and will not get it. One is up for election again this year, the other isn't. Unfortunately for the one who isn't, I have a long memory about this type of outrage.

This bill will cause 15 times the economic damage that the destruction of the World Trade Center caused. Al Qaida is hiding in caves in Afghanistan and Pakistan. So why are the Wall Street executives who caused this disaster allowed to keep their Manhatten penthouses? Why are they allowed to keep their golden parachutes? How about charging them with fraud under the Securities acts, revoking their parachutes, and putting them in jail?

October 4, 2008 at 1:35 pm

"The will of the majority is in all cases to prevail as long as it doesn't infringe upon the rights of others." Thomas Jefferson Well, the "representatives" obviously don't understand who they are supposed to represent. Instead, they have represented the small, but well funded, minority who finances their campaigns and effectively owns our nation. My Congresswoman, a Democrat no-less, actually voted "NO" twice for this bill. On the other hand, my idiotic State Senators voted "YES." It's not surprising with R Mel Martinez as he has constantly been involved in campaign financing scandals. These people are treasonous vipers. They are waging an economic war against the people of this nation. The Constitution (which I am sure none of these fools are even aware of even though they are sworn to protect it) calls for the death penalty for the offense of treason and I couldn't agree more. These people need to be tried and appropriately sentenced. If the people don't demand this then we are creating the same moral hazard for Congress to continue to behave this way as was created for the banks to lend as they did. The people need to regain the revolutionary spirit which created this great country. Remember a little battle cry called "taxation without representation?" How is it any different today. I, for one, have been purchasing gold for years and storing it offshore to protect what I have worked my whole life for from these greedy scumbags. Others will not be so lucky. I will sell my last remaining property under this bailout while prices are held artificially high for the next few months because of the bailout and quickly convert that wealth to a hard asset offshore. Millions of other people will do the same and vast quantities of this $2T (let's be honest, that will be the real cost, if not more, by the time this is all said and done) will leave our country. The saying "the meek shall inherit the earth" may sound like a benefit for the meek at first, but it really isn't. The meek simply inherit what the strong leave behind. If the large crop of meek, spineless, entitlement minded Americans don't put down the remote control for a minute and stop watching American Idol and Deal or No Deal, and start actively participating in our government they are going to wake up one day in a hollow shell of a nation, abandoned by those with the foresight to do so.

Ken Calvert is my congressman in California, he voted yes on the $700,000,000,000.00 bailout. I will NOT vote for him when he is up for re-elction. We have lost our representative government. It's time to stand up and vote all the bums out and vote in constitutionalist only. God help us.

October 4, 2008 at 1:11 pm

NO WAY. I've printed the full list of how they all voted, I am bringing to to my polling place so I know who I will vote for. I don't care if they are Repub or Dem. I will vote against anyone I can who brought this disaster onto taxpayers.

October 4, 2008 at 1:06 pm

I am a conservative. My representative is a Democrat. My rep did the right thing, both times, and voted no on this worthless piece of legislation. I will support him this fall.

October 4, 2008 at 12:54 pm

Hell yes!!! They are going home!!!

October 4, 2008 at 12:38 pm

Like Don, I commend my 2 senators John Barrasso & Mike Enzi for the guts to say no. I only wished my Rep Barbara Cubin was in that camp - not only did she vote yea, she was a co-sponsor. Thanks John & Mike!!!

They thought just because we wern't yelling as loud on Thursday as we did on Monday that we changed our minds. Non-sence! How soon they forget. Do we need to break down their doors 24/7 to make them listen to us. If so then I guess they can find another job - because "they're outta here!". I say vote them out !

Even though this unconstitutional rip off of the taxpayers passed, my senators and my rep, Gene Taylor voted NO. He was quoted as saying he wishes he could have voted "HELL NO"! Thank you Congressman Taylor!! PLEASE FIGHT THIS!! Wayne Lennep, Moss Point MS

For the first time since voting at age 18, I will vote for an independent. Not voting is not the answer, however voting independent clearly shows my disapproval for the Republican and Democratic Parties. Presidential candidates Obama and McCain voted for the bailout and called members of the House to support the bailout with porkbarrel waste added to it. Pork barrel waste Obama and McCain denies supporting in their first presidential debates. As long as the Republicans and the Democrates control the presidency and both houses of congress there can be not change. The United States of America is a government of the wealthy and not of the hard working class legal citizens. The 700 Billion Dollar bail out with pork barrel waste has proven my point. I am a military retiree, my wife and I work for he school system, and have a summer part-time job. Federal taxes are taken out of my retirement and our jobs and we still have to pay more taxes each April. This bail out will not help us or the majority of the retired and working class citizens like us. Fox News should broadcast a special telling the american citizens the number of congressmen/congresswomen with saleries of less than $100,000.00 per year. Point taken.

October 4, 2008 at 11:33 am

you bet your _ss I will vote them out of office.

October 4, 2008 at 11:31 am

Everyone of these bums are HOGS at the TROUGH. They need to just look in the mirror and see who did this to America. The sad thing is that they have no morals to feel any guilt. I will vote every person that voted YES, out of office.

October 4, 2008 at 11:18 am

Can you say, "Obama, Pelosi, Reid, $700B bailout and SOCIALISM," in the same sentence and not have your gut wrench at the thought? The left talks of the right "giving tax cuts to the rich," yet most of Washington just gave "candy to a bunch of babies." At least with the former, the idea remains that the people of America are required to work for their money. Instead we are rearing a bunch of couch potatoes who are just waiting for their portion of someone else's redistributed wealth--whether that be on Main Street or Wall Street. Bye, bye politician. It's time to wipe the slate clean and start with new, uncorrupted faces.

Well luckily my rep in house voted no and she has my vote in November. As for my Senators since they voted yes I will not be voting for them. McCain had my vote until he changed his vote from no to yes, even though he said he wouldn't with all the pork added to the bill. He lost my vote for president. We have no candidate to vote for in the Presidential election. It's time for a write in vote there.

October 4, 2008 at 11:05 am

My Republican Rep voted for it, one of my Democrat Senators voted for it and the other against it. I have no idea why they voted the way they did. I wrote all 3 of them prior to the votes and only Senator Stabenow replied at all and she voted no so, even though she is an incumbant and a liberal, I'll probably vote for her. Carl Levin voted yes, he never had my vote to begin with. Fred Upton voted yes and I will not vote for him now.

I will send my represetative home. I live in Florida and on my representatives website it stated he was against the bill. This morning I checked it out and he voted for it!! I can only guess that all the "extras" persuaded him to to vote yes. We need to stand together as Americans and send all of these flip flopers home. How can these people be our representatives when they go against what the people that voted them in are telling them to do!? The answer is they can't. Send them all home!! Vote the incumbant out of office!!

As I told my Representative last week, if he votes as a Marxist, I'll not only vote for the Democrat running against him, but I'll actively campaign for him! If I'm going to have a Marxist in the House, might as well have a real one up there. Thank goodness my Rep voted NO - can't stand the thoughts of another Marxist/Democrat being in Congress.

October 4, 2008 at 10:22 am

Well, apparently it's true - IN grows more than just corn - it grows idiots as well. Senators Bayh and Lugar voted yes as well as Rep. Carson. I used to like Bayh but this issue is so huge that it outweighs any other good he has done and I will definitely be voting against him as well as the other two. By the way, Eli Lilly & Co., based in Indianapolis was one of several large corporations pushing hard for this bill.

I will not vote for anyone that voted yes for this bill. I would like to point out that we hire them to be "Our Voice" no there own.

October 4, 2008 at 10:15 am

October 4, 2008 at 10:08 am

I will Vote them out and vote John and Sarah in, there the only ones that can stop this.

October 4, 2008 at 10:01 am

Sen. Burr from NC voted yea, and I can't wait to vote AGANINST him when he stands again. Dole from NC voted nay, and supported the people's wishes. I will be glad to vote for her in Nov. I am so disgusted with Washington and the self serving arrogant idiots that sold out the taxpaying citizens. Come NOV I hope they get what they have worked so hard for and deserve! A ONE WAY TICKET HOME!

Mr. Graham of SC will be scrambling for votes at election time. Mr. Demint of SC will not have to worry about re-election. The bailout was a big pile of manure. It went to the Senate and they coated with chocolate. Now you have a chocolate coated pile of manure that costs even more taxpayer money. We, the "Average Joe," will only be hurt by this; not helped.

Ronald Reagan liberated me from Communism in Eastern Europe and now the same thinking is coming here! No to B. Hussein OBAMA and term limits is the only answer to these ideas. Newt Gingrich was right and was kicked out by these bums. A new dictatorship of Big Government and Banks is very easy to implement, they don't need gulags just IRS and credit cards and all your life is in their files. Proud American Citizen!
