I think it is funny how some of the people that have responded to the question with "oh I work for the government, I have nothing to worry about." Well if the tax payers are out of work and there is no money coming in for your budget, guess what dip-shit, you will be in the bread line with the rest of us. I honestly try not to think of the future to much, to depressing. 401k getting more worthless by the day, along with my kids 529 college plan, personal stocks (can't sell without taking a loss), my 500k home is now basically worthless because no one can get financing to purchase it. My IT job slowly being outsourced to people in India that will work for pennies on the dollar. Then to add insult to injury I get the India people calling to ask why I am late on a payment. At what point will the middle class people of this country realize that we have all been sold out! The corrupt individuals in Washington and at the state level have been lining their pockets with our money for years with crooked legislation and taxes on everything, and now that the wheel has fallen off the bus the only solution that they can come up with is going to be more taxes on the very people that they have already ruined. Where is my bailout package? What form do I need to fill out to get a bailout package? I can't even plan on getting a job at Mcdonalds because all the illegal aliens that our government didn't want to deal with have those already!!! Well I guess it won't be long before we will be sneaking across the border into Mexico, I hear there is a labor shortage down there.

Am I afraid of losing my job? To a certain point I am, but I'm not letting it consume me. What worries me more is hearing people say that we're headed for another "Great Depression"

Unlike most people, I decided to do some research our economy. Our government has had to do a so-called "bail-out" numerous times dating back to the 1800's even. Guess what? It obviously worked. This isn't the first time the government has had to shore up the economy and it won't be the last.

I do, however, feel that Obama's tax plans will have a negative impact on the economy. But, I believe in Capitalism and it will still work out as it always has. Don't worry folks.....it'll be a tough road, but it will get better. The Dems will not reach 60 and we'll be safe.

Oh, and I agree with Paul. Amen to that!

Pretty sure some laws were broken in the midst of the economic crisis and the bail out. What I want to see are some proper investiigations of the who what when where and how followed by some heads on a plate in federal district court. There is no way we(I say that loosely)got ourselves in this big a hole without some in propriety, so where are the heads? I live in a small town and you can bet if I had a small business going under the ywouldnt bail me out, I would go bankkrupt and fall flat and have to start all over again. We do need change, at the ballott box. We had good candidates on both sides and between the special interest and the Media, we ended up voting for the Evil of two lessers once again.

Am I worried about loosing my job? No. It's not that I can't or won't loose my job. My comfort comes from the fact that we paid off our $200k house, drive two older paid for cars and have an empty nest as of this summer. We've saved both in 401k (that obviously have taken a big hit) as well as personal savings of much more than a year's worth of expenses so we can easily weather the storm if either of us loose our job. What really bugs me however is that I believe I have done the right thing - living well below my means, saving and staying out of debt. But I will be expected to pay for all those who didn't save, who bought more house than they could afford using 110% mortgages with ARMs, driving cars they couldn't afford and maxing out their credit cards etc. Doing the right thing should not be a punishable offense but I fear with the current bail out furry and incoming liberal federal government that I will be severally punished so that those who made bad decisions can be rewarded. Life is not fair.

I think I'm safe for now. I work for a wireless company and being that the cellphone has become everyone's lifeline, most people will keep it for as long as the can. Folks on other utility companies like landlines are already out the door :(

I don't think that my job is safe. I work for a financial institution that is being bought out. Hmm... have you guessed which one yet? Anyway, Wells Fargo does not promise any jobs to our current employees. HELLO that is scary. I don't think that because the REPUBLICANS made poor decisions over the past 8 years should put my job into jeopordy. Let alone put my father's pension from GM in jeopordy. Do they want everyone except the extremely rich to become homeless, that is where we are headed. Do we want to happen to America what happened in Germany? Where it will take every penny you make to buy a loaf of bread? I might as well move to Canada where the government cares about their people. Our government sure has not shown us that. Well at least anyone that is not from the upper class.

I live in New Mexico where things are not as problematic as they are in the rest of the country. The State has ordered a hiring freeze but doesn't expect ( at least at this time) to lay off anyone.

I'm a bit concerned about losing my job, but I don't depend on money directly to sustain me. I have what I have because the Lord God has seen fit that I should have it. If I lose my job He will sustain me because I trust in Him.

A gentleman called in to a conservative radio talk show and said that abortion and gay marriages should be of prime concern. The talk show host said the Economy takes center stage and these other issues should be of little concern at this point.

I submit to you the reason we have economic problems is because the US made a statement that she wasn't concerned about the unborn or gay marriages (issues very important to God) by electing a Democratic pro choice, pro gay president. Because we have chosen the god of money over moral issues we will suffer the consequences - we haven't seen nothing yet.

I already lost my job in the technology sector. This is the second time, and the last time that I will be in the tech sector.

I am switching and going into another area all together.

Since I am self employed I do not fear losing my job because I have a greater degree of control. When you work for an hourly wage or salary you are at the mercy of your employer. Always remember most companies be they large or small were not created for the benefit of the employees but for the benefit of the principals and/or investors. Work is a four letter word.
